Brand Development for Legend Trips

January 4, 2012 in Graphic Design

Hello everyone, I am proud to showcase this new brand development that I just completed. My client Legend Trips is based in Massachusetts and is an outlet for legend tripping. If you are familiar with the paranormal you are probably familiar with legends. I am very interested in the paranormal and think it is an intriguing subject, so this was right down my alley.

It all stemmed from a call out on Facebook. I listen to a podcast called Spooky Southcoast. This podcast delves into the world of the supernatural and unexplainable. Tim Weisberg the Host of Spooky Southcoast, put a call out on Facebook asking if there were any graphic designers willing to work on a logo for them. In a heartbeat I jumped on the chance to work on something that I love. With in the next hour, I was in talks with Tim and a logo was on its way to being developed.

Legend Trips is a collaboration between SpookySouthcoast.com and Ghostvillage.com where they organize events for the public to get involved in the paranormal world, which includes investigations.

Legend Trips was looking for a logo that would portray legends in general, talking about UFO’s, Bigfoot cases, etc. So I used bigfoot’s infamous stride to help shape the L in Legend and then incorporated a grey alien for the I in Trips. The font has a distressed look to it to give it an uneasy feel, a dirty feel as if it came straight from the forest’s looking for Bigfoot.

Overall, the logo works, it portrays what Legend Trips is about. I encourage everyone to check out their website and see what they have to offer.

Twitter Bird
I will try to write this post in 140 characters or less…If you are a tweeter you may have noticed that the user interface for Twitter has changed. I am a fan of the swapping of sides. Moving the profile page with user name and how many tweets, following and followers you have to the left side. The smaller less foreboding “Compose new Tweet…” box is a nice touch also. Cleaning up the Who to follow list and adding the trends underneath that is also clean and easy to navigate. I like the fact that it is “Area” specific, in my case San Diego trends show up, and can be easily changed by clicking, “change” next to it.

The tweet roll looks like it has stayed pretty much the same. The navigation at the top is nice. I love the textured nav bar and the drop down sub nav for the user to the right and the Home, @Connect and #Discover tabs to left for easy getting to is an awesome move.

Twitter has made strides to make this a more user friendly experience, and as a user I applaud their efforts. Please follow me @stolzedesigns on twitter and get updates, new posts and deals on graphic design projects. I look forward to connecting with you.

Elks Lodge #168 Trail/Website SEO

December 7, 2011 in Graphic Design

Good Evening, tonight was busy. I started off working on the January edition of the Elks Lodge #168 Trail. This is a monthly newsletter that is sent out to 800+ members of the Elks Lodge #168, and some Elks members in Chicago. It is a 20 page spread that is printed in gray scale unless otherwise noted. I am responsible for the design and layout of this newsletter and then the pre-flight and packaging of files to send to the printer.

After finishing up the newsletter for the night, I moved onto additions consisting of 2 headings for each page and then SEO work for Raindance Roof Company, Inc. which includes creating an xml sitemap and submitting it to google, setting up a robots.txt file for robot crawling and running a website optimizer. I will be checking back in tomorrow to see how the optimizer did.

All in all it was a busy night here at Stolze Designs. Time to close all my programs and sign off for the night. Until tomorrow, Good Night.

Raindance Roof Company, Inc. Revisited

December 2, 2011 in Uncategorized

Raindance Roof Company, Inc.

This was a design project brought to Stolze Designs in early 2010. Our client wanted to move away from the “Indian” mascot that was on their previous logo and to give it a more industrial professional feel to it. They gave us some ideas and directions that they wanted to follow, and after 4-5 concepts we landed the above logo.

After the design of the logo, we developed a new, improved and usable website. Raindance Roof Company, Inc. was a single static page with just a few key points and the phone number to contact. We sat down and mapped out a new website and came up with a professional looking site that offers many tools to potential clients. The new website contains 8 pages including the Home page, which includes services offered, roof systems, galleries, and testimonials to name a few.

A year and a half has gone by and Todd the owner contacted us again to make some additions and web maintenance including additions of new images and SEO work.

The relationship between Stolze Designs and Raindance Roof Company, Inc. is stellar. The communication is great and projects are fun to work on.
